The City Park is primarily associated by many people with the City Park Lake. It is no wonder, therefore, that it is one of the favourite destinations of park-goers. For this reason it will be renewed within the framework of the Liget Budapest Project in such a way that its water surface will be significantly increased and it can be admired all year round. After its renovation its permanent water surface, increased six fold and embracing the Széchenyi Island and the Peacock Island (an old feature of the park), will have its own fauna. After its completion, its water will be drained, only during the winter months, in the area of the City Park Ice Rink, which will thus continue to function as a skating venue.
