Since the beginning of its history, the City Park has inspired and welcomed the fans of sport and has always played a really important role in the recreation of those living in the adjacent districts. This is why the consolidation and enlargement of sports facilities and outdoor functions encouraging a healthy lifestyle have been treated as a priority during the implementation of the Liget Budapest Project. The most important element is the new Városliget Sports Centre with a floor area of 13 thousand square metres, which was opened in 2020. The new complex, set in a revamped green environment, offers about a dozen of sports to those visitors to the Liget who are looking for active recreation.
