Hungarian Natural History Museum (Debrecen)

In 2019, the Government of Hungary decided that the new headquarters of the Hungarian Natural History Museum would be established in Debrecen, contributing to the city’s development as the intellectual and cultural hub of the region. Preparatory work for the project began in early 2022, and in 2025 the winning design was selected through the architectural design competition — submitted by the BIG // Vikár és Lukács Architect Studio Ltd. consortium. Currently, a negotiated procedure without prior publication is underway, in which the DIF is negotiating the terms of the contract with the winning bidder. The planned exhibition building will have an approximate gross floor area of 22,900 m² and will be located in the heart of the Nagyerdő.
